We are looking for a compassionate and proactive Support Officer to deliver high-quality, person-centred support to older and vulnerable customer. This role is central to helping customers maintain independence, build life skills, and move towards sustainable, independent living in accommodation that meets their needs.

 

You will provide flexible, outcome-focused housing-based support tailored to each individual’s goals, aspirations, and circumstances. Working across supported housing schemes and floating support services, you will assess needs and risks, develop and review support plans, respond to crises, and implement early intervention strategies to prevent escalation. You will play a key role in safeguarding customers and promoting wellbeing, safety, and independence.

Please note this is a part time role consisting of 18.5 hours per week.

Outline of key responsibilities for the Support Officer...

  • Deliver high-quality customer service and personalised housing-related support to older and vulnerable residents.
  • Promote independence, confidence and wellbeing, enabling customers to maintain their tenancy and live safely in their own homes.
  • Identify individual support needs and risks, including for customers with complex needs or challenging behaviours, and develop effective support plans.
  • Respond appropriately to crisis situations, implementing early intervention and prevention strategies to reduce future risk.
  • Liaise, coordinate and negotiate with a wide range of professionals and agencies including adult health and social care, care providers, children’s services (where relevant), community organisations, and internal teams.
  • Support residents to access benefits, financial support, health services, social activities, and community resources.
  • Support and encourage participation in social, recreational, educational and wellbeing activities to reduce isolation and strengthen community connections.


We are looking for someone who has...

  • A full manual UK driving license
  • Experience within support role (Desirable)
  • Experience supporting vulnerable or older customers
  • The ability to cope with challenging behaviour/resistance
  • An awareness of safeguarding

  • Starting salary of £12,874
  • 27 days holiday (rising to 32 over 5 years’ service) + bank holidays
  • Field based role from our office in Barnsley
  • You will be working 18.5 hours per week, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 10am-2:30pm, Fri 9:30am-2:30pm
