We’re looking for a strategic and creative Social Media Planner to lead the development of insight‑driven social media strategies that drive brand growth, engagement, and measurable results. This role bridges strategy, planning, and performance, ensuring social activity aligns with broader business and marketing objectives.
You’ll translate audience insight, platform trends, and brand priorities into clear social strategies, content frameworks, and channel plans - working closely with creative, content, and paid social teams to bring plans to life.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy & Planning
- Develop integrated social media strategies aligned to brand, marketing, and commercial objectives
- Create channel strategies, content pillars, tone of voice guidance, and campaign frameworks
- Lead social planning for campaigns, launches, and always‑on activity
- Identify growth opportunities through platform trends, audience behaviours, and cultural insight
Audience & Insight
- Define and refine audience personas based on data, social listening, and market insight
- Use insights to inform content direction, messaging, and channel prioritisation
- Monitor competitor and category activity to inform strategic recommendations
Content & Activation
- Work with creatives, content creators, and community teams to guide content ideation and execution
- Ensure content is purpose‑led, platform‑native, and aligned to strategic goals
- Support paid social planning with audience, messaging, and creative recommendations
Performance & Optimisation
- Set success metrics and KPIs for social strategies and campaigns
- Analyse performance data to evaluate effectiveness and optimise future plans
- Produce clear, actionable reporting and strategic recommendations for stakeholders
Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
- Act as the strategic social lead on projects, presenting plans with confidence
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to deliver best‑in‑class social activity
- Support junior team members with guidance and strategic thinking
Essential
- Proven experience in social media strategy, planning, or digital strategy
- Strong understanding of major social platforms (e.g. Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube, Pinterest)
- Experience developing audience‑led, insight‑driven social strategies
- Confidence working with data, analytics, and performance metrics
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
Desirable
- Experience working with brands in the retail sector
- Understanding of paid social and integrated media planning
- Familiarity with social listening and analytics tools (e.g. Sprinklr, Sprout, Brandwatch, native platform tools)
- Agency experience or working across multiple brands
