Senior Menswear Designer

THE ROLE

We are looking to hire an experienced Senior Designer with a clear understanding of the boohooMAN customer base and support the commercial targets of the brand.

Being part of the boohooMAN design team requires a positive personality and drive to seek out and take on any task no matter how big or small.

This role will be based out of our Ancoats, Manchester office.

• As a Senior Designer at boohooMAN you will play a key role in driving the brand forward.
• The ability to plan, organise and project manage is key.
• You will have a clear understanding of the boohooMAN brand, what works and what is needed to keep us authentic.
• The ability to make reasoned and informed judgements and decisions on design are paramount.
• The role involves effective leadership skills, collaborating with senior members whilst supporting and managing the junior members of the design team.
• You will drive and motivate the junior team members to bring to life innovative ideas and ultimately keep us ahead of competition.
• Bring a collaborative energy and actively participate in design events (creative vision, design reviews, brainstorms).
• You will work across multi-product, working closely with product development members from conception to delivery.
• Reviewing design work on an ongoing basis ensuring before submitting to head of for sign-off.
• Responsible for keeping department categories fresh and ensuring high quality at all times.
• Trend led focus and good commercial acumen – continue to be a source of inspiration by bringing new ideas and concepts to work.
• Ultimately, you will ensure the design team promotes our brand through delivering high quality pieces on tight deadlines.
• Chairing design team meetings and brainstorm sessions as appropriate to manage the design development process.
• Working to design and project schedules – maintaining brand consistency at all times.
• Vetting and appointing the relevant team members, refining and ensuring projects and design work are acceptable, and boohooMAN standards are met.
• Work closely with the Design, Buying and QA teams in developing the assortment and the collection.
• Work collaboratively from concept to completion to ensure alignment of priorities and direction.
• Show a high level of awareness by constantly evaluating trends and customer behaviours, keeping up-to-date with trending messages.
• Produce and present extensive research, newness, which lead into developments.
• Ensure that all designs produced represent boohooMAN and its customer groups.
• Constantly monitor and react to sales trends and seek new selling opportunities.
• Responsible for driving product ‘move-ons’ and establishing ‘winners’.
• Lead fitting of samples collectively with QC and buying.
• Co-operate with the buying team to drive product development.
• Consideration of relevant analyses and understanding the boohooMAN aesthetics & customer.
• Research for Seasonal Trends including colour, key shapes, details, catwalks, street style, muse updates, prints and graphics.
• Prepare and deliver effective design presentations (visually and verbally) that sell ideas effectively.
• Collate and distribute fabric and trim sourcing packs.
• Liaise and visit supply bases in line with business requirements.
• Build and maintain external supplier relationships.
• You will be involved in recruitment processes where appropriate.

• Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop skills.
• Strong team player and inspiring communicator.

• Understanding of technical fabric qualities, detail and colour.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Team player – has a sense of humour.
• An experienced mentor, to manage and develop junior team members.
