The Support function provides the specialist expertise and operational backbone that helps PortSwigger run effectively and scale well. It brings together teams across Culture, Finance, Technology and broader business support roles.

The Role

We are looking for a Data Engineer to help shape and evolve PortSwigger’s data platform and analytical foundations.

This role is focused on building scalable, reliable, and governed data infrastructure that enables high-quality decision making across the business. You will play a key role in designing and operating the systems, pipelines, semantic models, and architectural foundations that power analytics, reporting, experimentation, and AI-assisted workflows.

You will work closely with stakeholders across engineering, analytics, product, and the wider business to ensure data is accessible, trusted, and structured in a way that supports both operational excellence and long-term scalability.

This is a high-impact role with significant ownership and influence over technical direction, architecture, and platform evolution.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Designing and building scalable cloud-native data infrastructure
• Developing reliable ingestion, transformation, and orchestration pipelines
• Creating semantic models and governed data structures that support trusted analytics
• Improving data quality, observability, lineage, and governance practices
• Partnering with engineering and business stakeholders to define scalable data solutions
• Supporting self-serve analytics and AI-enabled decision making
• Contributing to architectural decisions and long-term platform strategy
• Identifying opportunities to simplify systems and improve operational efficiency
• Ensuring security, reliability, and maintainability across the data platform
• Helping establish high standards of engineering quality and data craftsmanship

What We’re Looking For

• Strong professional experience in Data Engineering roles
• Experience leveraging agentic AI or AI-assisted tooling within data engineering, analytics, or operational workflows
• Advanced SQL and Python capability
• Experience building and scaling cloud-native data platforms
• Strong experience with AWS and modern warehousing technologies such as Redshift
• Experience with modern transformation tooling such as dbt
• Strong understanding of data modelling, governance, and semantic layer design
• Experience building reliable and maintainable data pipelines and orchestration frameworks
• Strong engineering judgement and pragmatic problem-solving capability
• Ability to balance long-term architectural thinking with iterative delivery
• Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences
• Comfort operating in ambiguity and solving complex systems problems
• Collaborative mindset with strong ownership and accountability
