We are seeking a part time kitchen assistant, that can support our vision to build stronger individuals and confident communities.
As a kitchen assistant you are responsible for preparing & serving food from our cafe to members while delivering the highest standard of customer service and food safety, creating a warm and welcoming environment that facilitates community sharing and learning.
You will be working as part of a team and be very hands on.
You will need to have a flexible and adaptable attitude- washing up will be a key part of the role.
- Ensure all food is stored correctly, including stored in the correct area and off the floor
- Cook and prepare all food in line with food safety guidelines
- Be responsible for the kitchen when the chef mentor is not available
- Ensure all food that is prepared has the correct label, including date, ingredients, and allergens
- Serve food to customers while cooking food in line with demand
- Handle products carefully to keep in the best condition
- Empty the waste bins as and when required and ensure the contents are disposed of safely and correctly
- Washing pots
- Record all food temperatures in the correct company logbook
- Record all fridge and freezer temperatures in the correct company logbook
- Display all allergen signage relevant to the correct product
- Use the till and correctly process payments from customers when food or drinks are purchased
- Clean as you go using correct cleaning equipment and chemicals
- Ensuring that all Health and Safety procedures are always followed
- Undertake all relevant legal, mandatory and role specific training

Please note: The successful candidate will require to have a DBS check carried out as part of the offer process
Hours of work: working 25 hours per week, between 9.30am and 3:00pm (Flexible) Tuesday to Saturday.
Working 5 days per week- Tuesday to Friday with the Chef Mentor in a supporting role and a Saturday breakfast service running the kitchen unassisted.
Pay rate: £13.10 per hour, paid every 4 weeks
