Due to growth and our continued focus on operational excellence, we’re looking for an experienced and driven Operational Training & Standards Lead to strengthen capability across our Distribution Centre operations.
About the role:
This isn’t just delivering training.
As our Operational Training & Standards Lead, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring that business-approved standards are understood, embedded and consistently applied across all shifts within our Distribution Centres.
You’ll simplify processes, develop clear and practical SOPs, coach colleagues to competency, and provide operational insight that strengthens performance and compliance.

What you’ll be doing:
• Embed Operational Standards
Ensure agreed business standards are clearly understood and consistently applied across AM, PM and Night shifts. Identify gaps and provide feedback to Shift Managers and senior stakeholders, including the Head of Operations.
• Develop & Simplify SOPs
Create, review and enhance Work Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures, making them clear, practical and repeatable for DC colleagues.
• Deliver Engaging Operational Training
Deliver role-specific training (non-MHE), inductions covering safety and operational expectations, and competency assessments across multiple job functions within the DC.
• Coach & Build Capability
Assess colleagues in role, identify coaching needs and support development to improve performance and confidence across all ability levels.
• Maintain Audit-Ready Compliance
Keep accurate training records and compliance documentation, ensuring the operation is always audit-ready and aligned with business requirements.
• Strengthen Skills Planning
Review the Operational Labour Plan Skills Matrix to ensure colleagues are appropriately trained and deployed in line with business needs.
• Collaborate for Continuous Improvement
Gather colleague feedback on learning materials and work with L&D to improve relevance, engagement and effectiveness of training delivery.
What you’ll bring:
We’re looking for someone operationally experienced, confident influencing at shift leadership level, and passionate about developing people.
You’ll have:
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience working at Line Lead level (or equivalent) within a Warehouse distribution Centre or similar operational environment
• Experience delivering training across 6 or more operational job roles
• Competency assessor experience with strong coaching capability
• The ability to draft clear process flow diagrams
• Strong MS Office skills
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence peers and Shift Managers
• A strong understanding of operational processes and equipment
• A proactive, positive attitude to coaching colleagues of all abilities
• A willingness to be flexible across shifts and support additional Distribution Centres where required
• A mindset that goes beyond the job description when the business needs it

· Location: Based within our Distribution Centre operations with flexibility to support AM, PM and Night shifts and occasional travel to other DC sites as required.
· Salary: £32’333 per annum
· Hours: 40 hours per week working Mon-Fri 09.00-17.30, flexibility required across shifts.
