This role is a great opportunity to join a strong finance team, in a fast paced, interesting and scaling tech business. We are looking for an experienced, technically grounded and proactive Management Accountant to take ownership of all aspects of financial management at Purple, including regulatory and financial reporting, management accounts and KPI preparation, as well as the development of internal control policies and procedures. 

The successful candidate won't just report the numbers; you will interrogate them, improve the processes behind them and provide the business with the "peace of mind" that the ledger is accurate, timely, and fully reconciled.

What will you be doing in this role?

Month-End Ownership & Reporting

  • Leading the month-end close process (with a strong understanding of accruals, prepayments and journals), ensuring all deadlines are met with high precision.
  • Identifying discrepancies in the accounts with the ability to resolve them independently before the final review.
  • Preparing full Management Accounts, including P&L and Cost Centre variance analysis packs and Balance Sheet reconciliations.
  • Providing insightful business partnering, to help the Department Heads understand financial performance and make informed decisions.

 

Payroll & Compliance

  • Taking full end-to-end ownership of payroll for our UK and global teams. You will be the primary point of contact for external payroll providers across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Acting as the lead for our US entity, managing the relationship with our Registered Agent to ensure we are US compliant across all active states.

 

Process Simplification, Automation & AI Integration

  • Evaluating the current accounting workflows to identify efficiencies and implement AI-driven automation, to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Acting as a mentor to members of the team, reviewing work and guiding their technical development.
  • Implementing"best practice" controls to ensure the finance function can scale alongside the business.

 

Working Capital & Communication

  • Supporting cash management to ensure healthy cash flow across all business entities.
  • Maintaining a "no-surprises" environment through proactive communication, especially during remote working days.
  • Working collaboratively across the organisation, contributing to finance projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

Who you are

Experience: Our ideal candidate is a technically grounded Accountant (part qualified CIMA/ACCA/ACA or QBE) with solid management accounting experience in a SME environment or similar.

Flexibility: Operates at their best in a changeable, fast-paced global technology business, whilst developing processes that drive consistency and efficiency.

An Investigative Mindset: You are a natural Problem Solver who doesn’t wait for instruction. You investigate the root cause, present a solution, and see it through to completion, taking pride in your work.

Attention to Detail: You have a natural instinct for spotting anomalies in the data.

Tech-Savvy: High proficiency in Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivots, Sumifs) and experience with cloud-based accounting software.
