DescriptionWe are seeking a skilled and proactive Maintenance Engineers to support the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of equipment, while contributing to the achievement of site performance targets. This role is based in the Markham Vale site in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, UK. The role operates on a 12 hour day shift (7am-7pm) on a 2 week rotating cycle, typically working a mix of 2 and 3 consecutive days with rest days in between. Due to the rotation, the role includes working every other weekend. On call cover is only required to support absence cover for the other maintenance engineer (e.g. during holiday). Shift and on-call allowances are provided, with the shift allowance set at 22% of base salary.
As a Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining equipment in line with operational and maintenance standards. You will play a key role in ensuring the facility operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all legal and company requirements.
Working within a collaborative Maintenance team, you will carry out both reactive and planned preventative maintenance, support projects, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. This role requires a strong focus on safety, quality, and teamwork.
Responsibilities
- Carry out day-to-day maintenance activities and support the Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) system
- Ensure plant equipment is maintained for safe, efficient, and continuous operation
- Follow all legal, regulatory, and company engineering standards
- Assist with the installation and implementation of capital projects
- Support the control and coordination of contractors on site
- Work collaboratively within the Maintenance team to achieve objectives
- Promote and maintain high standards of health, safety, environmental, and quality performance
- Follow risk assessments, permits, and safe systems of work at all times
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping in areas of responsibility
- Act as a proactive and responsible member of the engineering team
Qualifications
- Time served engineering qualifications or equivalent experience
- Good general level of education
- Experience in a processing or manufacturing environment (preferred 5+ years)
- Experience of PLC’s (desirable not a requirement)
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Good numerical, communication, and reasoning abilities
- Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental practices (or willingness to develop)
