The Commercial Director is accountable to the Delivery Director for commercial management. This includes accountability for the Commercial Management by the commercial leads. The Commercial Director has ultimate ownership for providing specialist contract & commercial advice, guidance and recommendations to mitigate commercial risks across the programme and task orders. Key accountabilities include.
- Support the Delivery Director as key interfaces with the commercial team
- To interact and support stakeholders
- To be the commercial lead for all WSP internal commercial reporting requirements
- Support the Delivery Director across the Programme in monitoring for breaches of corporate governance and remediation
- Direct cost reporting for the programme
- Lead the monitoring, management and reporting on all commercial aspects, reporting issues and proposing mitigation actions to Programme Director and/or Head of Finance & Commercial (functional reporting line) and/or Delivery Director
- Lead on commercial risk/claim/target change events
- Lead the provision of commercial management information and analysis to promote informed decision-making
- Lead the production commercial correspondence and contractual notices for issue in accordance with contractual conditions
- Support the Delivery Director in the demonstration of efficiencies and continual improvement of estimating by undertaking cost analysis of completed projects and feedback.
- Support the Delivery Director with pre and post contract procurement activities as appropriate.
- Support Delivery Director with the negotiation of all prices under existing contracts/framework agreements (including the negotiation of target costs) and fully participates in the associated quantitative risk assessment and value management workshops, as required.
- Assure all contractual specifications set out for the management of safety, and as determined by WSP standards, procedures etc., are effectively implemented and thereafter monitored to prevent any potential non-compliance, delay, or lack of organisational cover etc. which could introduce the importation of risks to the Programme Directors portfolio.
Key Competencies and Experience
Essential
• Relevant successful experience in commercial management
• General knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental Regulations
• Commercial and financial understanding and knowledge
• A degree or equivalent
