Hours:   Flexible bank shifts available: Day (07:00 – 19:30) & Night (19:00 –07:30). Shorter day shifts may be available.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Bank Registered Nurse in our IPU, you will:

  • Deliver expert palliative and end of life care, ensuring dignity, comfort, and holistic support.
  • Assess, plan, and implement individualised care plans, including effective symptom management.
  • Work closely with the wider team to ensure safe, coordinated, and high-quality care.
  • Act as shift leader when required, supporting and mentoring junior staff.
  • Contribute to ongoing service improvements and quality initiatives.

What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for skilled and compassionate nurses who want to make a real difference.

Essential:

  • Registered Nurse (RGN) with valid NMC registration.
  • Experience delivering compassionate care as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong communication, organisational, and teamwork skills.
  • A genuine passion for palliative and end of life care.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in palliative care, oncology, or hospice settings.
  • Post-registration qualification in palliative care or mentorship.
  • Experience using electronic patient record systems (e.g., SystmOne).

About Ashgate:

Ashgate Hospice, based in North Derbyshire, offers free palliative and end of life care for adults with life-limiting or incurable illnesses, including cancer, neurological diseases, and advanced heart, kidney, and lung conditions. Last year, we cared for over 2,400 people. Our aim is to support our patients by keeping them informed, managing their symptoms, and improving their quality of life from diagnosis onwards.

We also provide vital support to the people who are important to them, offering practical assistance and emotional support, including bereavement services.
