The Sales Account Manager is responsible for developing a portfolio of customer accounts, ensuring successful renewals, maximising revenue opportunities, and identifying and securing new business.
This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. We offer a hybrid working model with a split of home working and office working required. This position can be based from our offices in Sheffield or Bromsgrove so you need to live within a commutable distance of either of these locations due to the office working element. A valid UK driving license is required, as the role involves travel to customer sites.
Role and responsibilities
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders across designated customer accounts, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction, feeding back issues into the business and driving resolutions.
- Act as the main point of contact for customer issues and work with internal teams to drive timely resolutions.
- Grow our presence within customer accounts by expanding stakeholder networks, building a deep understanding of customer challenges, identifying new business opportunities, and driving revenue growth.
- Manage and secure contract renewals with existing customers to secure and protect recurring revenue.
- Identify, lead, manage, and win sales opportunities with both existing and prospective customers.
- Follow up on new business enquiries generated through marketing activity or personal networks.
- Own and maintain a strong and accurate sales pipeline using the CRM system, ensuring all activity, progress, and outcomes are kept up to date.
- Produce accurate sales forecasts and provide clear visibility of pipeline, expected revenue, and risks against targets.
- Develop annual business plans and detailed account plans for assigned accounts, aligned to customer objectives and company growth priorities.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to share insights, shape campaign activity, and support pipeline development aligned to market opportunity and pipeline needs.
- Utilise product and industry specialists during preβsales to shape and propose the most appropriate customer solutions.
- Achieve agreed sales targets across renewals, revenue growth, and new business.
- Undertake any additional duties as required.
- Proven experience in managing and developing customer accounts
- Strong experience working within complex customer organisations, engaging multiple stakeholders across functions and seniority levels.
- Demonstrated success in building strong, trusted relationships with senior and C-suite stakeholders.
- A track record of identifying and winning opportunities within prospect accounts.
- Experience leading and contributing to bids and tenders.
- Demonstrable experience delivering value-based sales and marketing campaigns.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Confidence in presenting, demonstrating solutions, and producing compelling proposals.
- Strong planning, organisational, and opportunity management skills.
- Proven problem-solving ability and solution-planning experience.
- Knowledge of the transport sector and relevant IT systems used for planning, scheduling, and operational management, is highly desirable.
